Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is excited by the prospect of another FA Cup final appearance. The England international was a member of the City side which beat Stoke at Wembley in 2011 to end a 35-year wait for a trophy.
He went on to play an important role in City's Premier League title success last season and could be in the side again against Wigan at the national stadium this weekend.It is this pursuit of silverware which tempted him to leave Aston Villa for the Etihad Stadium four years ago.
Barry, 32, said: "It's fantastic. This is exactly why I made the tough decision to leave a club after so long to be playing in games like this more regularly. Hopefully we will have another trophy. I'm obviously really looking forward to it. It is the FA Cup final - every year it is a fantastic day.
"It was one that as a young kid growing up you look forward to watching so to be part of it, I'm really looking forward to it."
Barry's partnership with the influential Yaya Toure, the match-winner two years ago, in midfield will be a crucial component of City's push for success. Toure has been City's driving force for the past three seasons and his tireless performance in the semi-final win over Chelsea again proved his ability to rise to the big occasion.
The Ivory Coast international is fit after being withdrawn at half-time at Swansea last weekend due to fatigue and then missing the midweek game against West Brom.
"Yaya is a worry for the club when he goes off so close to a big game," Barry said. "But he has trained the last two days and had a little run-out so it will be a big plus if he is fit."
